He has become recognised as a world authority on ancient perennial philosophical science and the symbolism of sacred landscapes.... a founder member of RILKO (Research Into Lost Knowledge Organisation) and author of many books and pamphlets ...covering a diverse range of subjects. The common theme is the re-emergence of the traditional world view and the ancient science and philosophy associated with it as a natural remedy to the uncertainties and destructiveness of modern life."[1] John Michell is a member of the Lindisfarne Association [2] and its School of Sacred Architecture along with Robert Lawlor, Keith Critchlow, Anne Macaulay, British Poet Laureate Kathleen Raine, Robert Bly, Joscelyn Godwin, John Michell, and Ernest McClain. According to Wikipedia the Lindisfarne Association is "a group of intellectuals of diverse interests organized by cultural historian William Irwin Thompson for the interdisciplinary discussion of the emerging planetary consciousness. It is inspired by Jean Gebser's idea of the integral structure of consciousness, and by Teilhard de Chardin's idea of the noosphere." Michell lectures at prestigious venues such as The Prince's School of Traditional Arts [3]. He is also a columnist for an English publication called "The Oldie", and a painter.
